Brill Open Access Publishing

For over three centuries Brill has been a key partner in the dissemination of scholarly publications, primarily in the Humanities, Social Sciences and International Law. Brill is committed to enhancing access to academic content in a sustainable way.
Brill Open offers you the choice to make your research freely accessible online in exchange for a Publication Charge. This can be by choice or to comply with funding mandates or university requirements. Brill offers various options of Open Access, allowing you to publish in your choice of journal (hybrid), in one of Brill’s fully Open Access journals, or in one of Brill’s numerous book series.
Brill Open is made available to you only upon acceptance of your article or book. This requires a positive outcome of the peer review process and editorial decision making. The special Brill Open Consent to Publish forms can be downloaded here: Brill Open Journals CC-BY-NC and Brill Open Journals CC-BY.
Brill is committed to enhancing access to academic content in a sustainable way and supports the gradual conversion to the Open Access model. Income derived from Article Publication Charges (APCs) will be reflected in the development of the level of journal subscription prices.
For any queries regarding Brill Open contact brillopen@brill.com.
Brill Open is available for journals and books published under Brill and its imprints. Upon receipt of the Article or Book Publication Charge, your paper or book will be made freely accessible on Brill’s Online Books and Journals platform under a Creative Commons license: CC-BY or CC-BY-NC.
